Nord Grand Keyboard Repair

The Nord Grand is a fantastic keyboard. It has an amazing feel and incredible sound. The build quality and construction of Nord keyboards in general is top notch, and this keyboard is no exception. Even though, the Nord Grand is built extremely well, it too, can still have some issues.

The Nord Grand we recently received had key velocity issues. This means that when a note is played it is either much louder or much softer in volume than other notes along the keyboard. This is generally caused by a few issues:

  • Dirt can accumulate underneath the rubber key contacts and cause the rubber pads not to make a good connection when the key is pressed.
  • The rubber key contacts can wear down over time. This creates insufficient contact with the key sensor boards.
  • The sensor boards may be damaged.

Most of the time the problem stems from the first two issues mentioned above. Generally, a good cleaning of the pads and sensor boards can alleviate most issues. If the issue still persists, then replacing the rubber key contacts would be the next step. Then lastly, if that does not fix the issue then there is more than likely a problem with the sensor board.
